Colleen at the entrance to a traditional Melanesian Kanak hut. They are much more decorative than the traditional dwellings we have seen in Polynesia and the rest of Melanesia. This one was displayed at the Cultural Center, outside of Noumea. The second picture is of pirogue, a local boat in the foreground and the Cultural Center's award winning architecture (thought Max might like this shot) in the background.
