SIMMER'S BLUE WATER VOYAGE

9-1-98: We weighed anchor at 0630 and sailed out Barnegat inlet. (You can see a picture of the sunrise and the lighthouse on the "PHOTOS" page.) We had a beautiful sail down the Jersey coast – just a few miles off the beach and anchored in Cape May 12 hours later.

9-2/3-98: Now it was time to head North again, up the Delaware Bay to the Chesapeake and Delaware (C&D) Canal. This was a ten-hour sail and we anchored in the canal in the Engineer’s Basin at Chesapeake City, MD. From here, we sailed south to the Sassafras River on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Pat’s parent live in Galena, MD on the Sassafras and we plan to spend 4-5 weeks here, completing boat projects and visiting.
